Private access to Filo Hua Hum River
Some of our guests that fished the Filo with us, said this river is the closest to fish some of the water in New Zeland. I personally never fished or visited NZ, but the Filo Hua Hum river is all about Sight Fishing and usually for good size browns.
This water is as clear as you can imagine it. The Filo is a short river that comunicates two lakes, so its very very clear! It borns in Lago Nuevo and feeds into Filo Hua Hum Lake.
And the best part is that those 7 miles of the gin-clear Filo Hua Hum River flow through Tres Lagos property, all private access from this lodge!
Most of our fishing is done with a 6 weight rod, usually a long 2X (10 or 11 feet) leader and a big terrestrial or foam attractor. Sometimes we let the floating fly drag a dropper nymph out of it, using 3X and a nice size #12 pheasent tail.
Its all about the hunt for that big brown. Not and easy river. But we love it!
This water is ONLY WADE FISHING and catch and release river.

Fishing the lakes
About 7 miles upstrem from the Lodge the Lago Nuevo can offer a great fun day to those who like to try a different fishing day.
Using fat cats or a drift boat we float next to some reeds and rocky areas expecting some nice browns and rainbows to rise to our big foam flies! Its great and very visual fun!
Lake fishing can be a lot of fun, and it can be done with light gear and floating lines. Many anglers thing that fishing lakes is all about casting streamers to the deep drop-off or to logs... well we do it differently!
